FTP Accounts
What's FTP? What?s an FTP account? When do you need one?
FTP (File Transfer Protocol), is the most famous method of sending web files to a web hosting account. Using an FTP program that’s installed on your desktop computer or laptop, you can connect to your web hosting server and copy all of the web files that you want with a couple of clicks. This is done via a user-friendly GUI and it is as simple as dragging & dropping the files in question. The advantage of using File Transfer Protocol is that you’re able to create several FTP accounts, each with a different level of access to your online storage space, so if you must provide a third party with access, for example – a web designer, they’ll be able to connect only to a particular directory and will not be able to see the remaining content or any other info, such as private details. Three things are necessary to be able to connect via FTP – a hostname, which is normally an IP address or a domain name, a username and a password.
FTP Accounts in Cloud Hosting
You can set up as many FTP accounts as you wish with any of the cloud plans that we offer, as we’ve decided not to limit this feature. In this way, you can manage numerous sites simultaneously or provide other persons with access to separate directories. Once a certain job has been carried out and you wouldn’t like that individual to be able to connect to your website files anymore, you can update the password associated with the given FTP account or you can just remove the account with a few mouse clicks and stop worrying about someone connecting to it once again. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with all hosting packages, will permit you to check the complete list of the existing FTP accounts listed alphabetically. It takes only a click to administer various options for any of them – to update the access path or the password, to download an auto-config file, etc.
