Launched in 2001, the .NAME generic domain extension is the single TLD planned for personal websites only. These domains can consist of personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other designations people are famous by. At first, just third-level registrations were permitted, so if you wanted to register john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already bought 3rd-level names remained online.

You will be able to modify the WHOIS details, to park your domain, to edit Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already registered domain to our company if you acquire its EPP transfer authorization key from the current domain registrar and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been completed. There are no particular prerequisites on who can book a dot NAME domain name, but in order to maintain the concept behind its creation alive, the Registry organization may check who the owner is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain, the registration could be challenged.
